Overview:
General Summary
The objective of this role is to identify, develop, and strengthen relationships with preferred partners, engage in community relations activities, and effectively promote California Credit Union in the assigned market areas. This role has a primary focus on acquiring new members and achieving goals related to new membership, consumer loans and deposit products
Responsibilities:
Principal Accountabilities (90%)
B usiness Development:
- Primary mission is to identify and cultivate potential prospects within the education sector along with the business community.
- These may include: school districts, schools, county education offices, labor unions, educational organizations, local small businesses, and community and civic organizations.
- Cultivate a center of influence in a strategic approach aimed at building robust referral partnerships.
- Maintain positive relationships with existing clients and leverage these connections to identify new opportunities.
- Deliver compelling presentations that effectively showcase CCU products and services, highlighting the value proposition and addressing specific needs.
- Proactively participate in the development of new CCU @ Work partnerships, concurrently nurturing existing relationships through the facilitation of on-site events.
- Seek out school, community, and civic events that occur within our branch geographic locations, providing opportunities for table or booth sponsorship, and speaking engagements.
- Attend large events, either by the size of attendees or exposure for the credit union, in partnership with branch staff.
- Hand off small events, such as school sites, PTA meetings, professional development meetings, etc, to branch staff.
- Actively participate in community and civic sponsored events.
Open new accounts:
- Clearly explain account types, products, and services to members.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all credit union digital products and assist members in establishing all electronic services such as online banking, mobile banking, mobile deposits, direct deposit, bill pay, and etc.
- Conduct interviews with members to determine the appropriate product, account, or service to establish.
- Comply with all positive identification regulations for establishing new account holders.
- Analyze existing account relationships in order to identify potential services and/or account sales opportunities.
- Generate outbound telemarketing calls, identifiy member needs and promote appropriate credit union products and services, utilizing sales skills to source new account relationships.
- Generate and close identified sales opportunities with new and existing members, including the solicitation of loans, new accounts, and other credit union products and services. Develop and maintain a follow-up program to expand multiple account relationships.
Originate and fund consumer loans:
- Recommend appropriate products and services to members.
- Conduct interview with members relating to loan request.
- Cross-sell consumer loan protection products and services.
- Review documentation and forward to Consumer Lending for review and approval on loans that are not system-approved.
- Communicate loan disposition to members (approved, counter-offer, denied).
- Create loan documents and obtain member signature(s).
- Disburse new loan and complete follow-up tasks.
- Discuss and refer Business Loans.
- Complete tasks and responsibilities relating to enhancing member relationships to increase member service.
Other Accountabilities (10%)
- Advocate and champion for member experience, including adherence to defined service levels and call outs from member feedback.
- Promote and implement Financial Literacy initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all activities and interactions with prospects in order to track progress and refine strategies.
- Stay updated on education and community developments, as well as trends and changes in the credit union and financial industry.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies and procedures related to assigned products, including, but not limited to, Truth In Savings and Fair Credit Lending Practices.
- Comply with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.
- Participate in all assigned staff development programs to support the Credit Union's commitment to continuous improvement in sales, service, quality, and teamwork.
- Complete all BAI trainings and classroom courses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses:
- Requires extensive knowledge of all aspects of credit union products and services to deploy effective strategies and plans.
- Thorough understanding of banking laws, rules, regulations, and procedures impacting the School & Community Development department.
- A four-year degree in Business, Communication or equivalent field; or, comparable work experience required.
Experience:
Requires 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a financial institution or equivalent to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to handle all aspects of the position.

- Communication - Ability to clearly and accurately communicate instructions or ideas to co-workers in an appropriate manner. Ability to comprehend normal business conversations.
- Manual Dexterity - Ability to use the fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up general office objects. Movements frequently and regularly are required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Visual Abilities - Visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents and products, or operate machinery.
- Physical Strength - May be required to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to carry out instructions and exhibit problem solving skills.
- Mathematics Ability - Ability to accurately perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Language Ability - Exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend job related materials efficiently. Ability to prepare written correspondence in a professional manner.
- Must have a valid drivers license and use of a personal car with insurance for business related use including branch visits, and onsite events .
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Work is performed in a general office environment. This position may require some physical efforts, including: booth set up and tear down and meeting coordination and packaging/distributing of marketing materials, all of which include lifting, pushing and carrying of supplies to support credit union initiatives.
