Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, sociology, Psychology, Social Work or other Human Services field, and three years of human services, criminal justice, or investigative experience; or and equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of Evidence Based Practices in Community Corrections. Considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system; ability to lead, ability to communicate effectively with offenders and defendants who are incarcerated, offender/defendant family members, judges, attorneys, service providers, and others involved in the pretrial and probation processes. Knowledge of how to conduct an investigation; must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; basic personal computer skills. Understanding of court operations and decorum.
Current valid driver's license and g ood driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited. Duties Serve as the Senior Pretrial Officer over Pretrial Supervision. Perform case management of justice involved persons placed on supervision. Provide referrals as appropriate to services based on the need of the individual. Coordinate appropriate referrals to the Dual Treatment Track, Center of Risk Reduction, Medication Assisted Treatment caseload, Drug Court and Veterans Docket. Assist in ensuring the continuation of Evidence Based Practices by monitoring Probation and Pretrial Officer techniques and assignments. This position will aid in performing quality assurance functions associated with supervision. Review and correct court correspondence, facilitate meetings, mentor new staff and aid in closure of cases. Perform court research to secure warrants and information needed to properly supervise clients within state and local standards. Assist with case management activities, client intakes and drug/alcohol testing. Aid and support vendor in the electronic monitoring of clients. Expected to be able to perform all functions of staff when necessary. Perform special projects and other work as required.
Shift Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary with occasional weekends, evenings or early mornings.
