General Statement of Job


Under general supervision, reads water consumption meters and records volume used by residential and/or commercial consumers. Reads meters in a timely and accurate manner and at specified intervals for billing purposes. Inspects meters and connections for any defects or damages and accurately verifies readings in order to locate any abnormal or fluctuating consumption.

Minimum Training and Experience


Education: High school diploma of GEDExperience: One (1) year of experience working with maintenance and plumbing tools such as pipefittingCertifications:

• Valid driver's license

• The City retains the right to determine equivalencies.
• Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.

Physical Requirements


Must be physically able to operate an automobile, plumbing tools, lawn tools, a metal detector, flow analyzer, and a variety of automated office machines which includes an ITRON/Sensus computer, copier, cash register, etc. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 10 to 75 pounds.
