About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Litigation Paralegal to join our Sacramento office full-time. In this role, you will support attorneys in the Litigation Practice Group by managing case-related tasks, ensuring timely filings, and providing exceptional client service. This hybrid position requires a strong ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Calendar Management: Organize and schedule meetings, conferences, depositions, and travel. Keep track of court dates, deadlines, and filing requirements to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Document Preparation: Format, edit, and manage legal documents for state and federal filings, discovery, arbitration, appeals, and hearings. Ensure high-priority items are handled efficiently.
Mail and Communication Management: Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring documents are routed appropriately and deadlines are met. Coordinate couriers and special deliveries as needed.
Client Relations: Provide excellent service to clients in person, over the phone, and through written communication, while maintaining confidentiality.
File and Case Management: Maintain both physical and electronic client files, ensuring everything is well-organized and accessible.
Courtroom Support: Assist with the preparation of courtroom visuals like charts and graphs. Help schedule couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other key personnel.
Administrative Support: Draft letters, schedule meetings, process expense reports, and assist with conflict checks, new matter requests, and billing as needed.
Professional Development: Help maintain attorney records for MCLE courses and fees.
Team Collaboration: Provide assistance to other secretaries when needed and take on additional duties as required.
What We're Looking For
Experience: At least 7+ years as a Legal Secretary with a strong background in civil litigation and familiarity with both state and federal filing processes.
Tech Savvy: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using document management systems.
Detail-Oriented: Strong drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills with a high level of accuracy.
Independent Worker: Ability to work proactively, anticipate attorney needs, and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Court Knowledge: Familiarity with court procedures, e-filing systems (Pacer, CM/ECF), and the EEOC Portal.
Problem Solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on meeting deadlines.
Client-Centered: A professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality while offering excellent client service.
Flexibility: Able to handle multiple projects and adjust to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
