Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant with strong litigation, technical and administrative skills to join our client's Chicago office. You'll support attorneys in their litigation practice group by managing case information, electronically filing documents in federal and state courts, overseeing case progression, creating electronic files and preparing complex legal documents.



Litigation Legal Assistant Responsibilities:

• Prepare and e-file court documents (discovery requests, pleadings, motions) in federal, state and appellate courts
• Draft and proofread correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents
• Maintain calendar and deadline systems for attorneys
• Manage client files, including opening new files and organizing electronic storage
• Interact with clients, maintain confidentiality and make appointments and travel arrangements
• Enter attorney time for billing purposes and assist with daily administrative tasks in a fast-paced team environment
• Respond promptly to messages and requests

Litigation Legal Assistant Requirements:

• 2+ years of civil litigation experience in a law firm;
• Strong transcription and proofreading skills (minimum 70 wpm)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and knowledge of court systems and CM/ECF filing
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail and interpersonal communication abilities
