Join our dynamic team as a Permanent Corporate Controller in the Manufacturing sector. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the financial management of our company. The Corporate Controller will oversee all financial, accounting, and reporting activities. The successful candidate will lead day-to-day finance operations, including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing financial management strategies that align with the company's overall vision and its current and long-term business objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets, and actual expenditures.
3. Regularly perform and supervise the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
4. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
5. Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the executive team; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
6. Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
7. Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
8. Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 7 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.
2. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
3. Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
4. Deep knowledge and understanding of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) rules and regulations.
5. A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
6. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
7. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CEO, the responsibility for finance.
8. Minimum of a Bachelors Degree; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
9. Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
10. Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in human resources activities.
11. A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
