The Cheer and Dance Team Coach at Vincennes University is a part-time, stipend position, and is reviewed annually. This position reports to the Director of Student Activities in the Division of Student Affairs. This individual will provide leadership and direction to the members of the VU Cheer Team and to the VU Blazerettes Dance Team. This individual will attend all games, events, and practices. The cheer and dance team coach will work cooperatively with student participants and administration to ensure the teams positively represent Vincennes University as ambassadors of the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Hold tryouts for the cheer team, dance team, and University mascot
• Supervise Cheer members and mascot
• Stay current with all trends in the dance and cheer industry
• Provide an enthusiastic, motivated, professional example for students to model
• Communicate on a regular basis with the Director of Student Activities regarding activities, scholarships, funding, and issues or injuries
• Attend all practices, games, and events

Required and Preferred Qualifications


Associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of coaching experience is required

The Vincennes University Cheer and Dance Team Coach will have or can demonstrate:

• Previous cheer experience
• Previous dance experience
• Previous coaching experience
• Familiarity with AACCA Cheerleading Safety Guidelines for the college level
• Organize and lead all practices (some duties may be delegated to team captains when appropriate and safe)
• Address all team issues promptly and professionally utilizing the Director of Student Activities when necessary
• Be part of a team of student affairs professionals dedicated to serving the students at Vincennes University
• All major decisions, including financial, must be approved by the Director of Student Activities

While part-time employees are not eligible for the University's benefit plan, there are certain required taxes that will be deducted from part-time employees' pay in order for the University to remain compliant with state and federal laws.
