Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced part time Centralized Oncology Triage Nurse for our busy Specialty Practice. The Centralized Oncology Triage Nurse under general supervision provides care of patients with hematologic malignancies and oncologic diagnoses, via telephone through the Centralized Triage Department. This includes medical oncology and radiation oncology. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Demonstrates competency in telephone assessment/triage, including the ability to assess the problem and plan the appropriate patient intervention with direction from physician/advanced care practitioner when needed.
• Follows standard policies and procedures to carry out medical orders.
• Assess patient and family learning needs, physical and mental abilities, and readiness to learn. Provides teaching and other instructional material. Demonstrates awareness of CSNF and community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary.
• Monitors, analyzes, and communicates laboratory data, imaging, and other tests for determination of changes in patients’ status. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician/advanced care practitioner.
• Communicates imaging, lab and other results and data to the patient as directed by the physician.
• Performs assessment of patients in the areas of biophysical needs, psychosocial needs, performance status score, self-care needs, educational, spiritual, and emotional needs.
• Demonstrates competency in Canopy web portal and OncoEMR systems.
• Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching, plan of care, orders, medication refills, etc., in Canopy and/or OncoEMR.
• Document all Triage interactions with physicians/advanced care practitioner/other staff and patients using Canopy. All symptom related communications will utilize the pathway feature of Canopy.
• Acts as a resource person to medical assistants and other staff as needed via telephone or email.
• Adheres to safety and quality control measures such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration and infection control criteria.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment.
• Mentors and serves as a preceptor for less experienced staff as needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• All other duties as assigned

Part-time Position, Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8:00-4:30

Education and Experience:

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience, including at least one (1) year oncology nursing experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• RN Florida state license.
• Basic life support (BLS) certificate.
• OCN preferred
• ONS (or equivalent) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course or ONS Radiation certification required within 6 months of hire.
